We at Oak Harbor Church agree with Rick Warren, Author of Purpose Driven Church and Purpose Driven Life, who says that “every church is driven by something.” Tradition, finances, programs, personalities, events, seekers, and even buildings can be the controlling force in a church, but we believe that in order for a church to be healthy it must become a purpose-driven church, with purpose-driven people, built around the five New Testament purposes given to the church by Jesus Christ. The issue for Oak Harbor Community Church is church health, not just church growth.
We believe that if our church is healthy, growth will occur naturally. And it has! Healthy, consistent growth is the result of balancing the five biblical purposes of the church.
These purposes teach us that we should….
- Love God through worship.
- Connect with others through fellowship.
- Grow stronger through discipleship.
- Serve others through ministry.
- Share Christ through evangelism.
